An explosion at the National Assembly kills everyone in the cabinet, leaving Park Mu-jin, the Minister of Environment, to become the next president. Park Mu-jin is a scientist-turned-politician who has no ambitions in politics, but as the acting president for 60 days, he is compelled to investigate the truth behind the attack. Yoon Jong-Woo is a man in his 20's. He has lived in a small town for all of his life, but he gets a job at a small office in Seoul. Yoon Jong-Woo moves out to Seoul and stays at a cheap apartment which shares its kitchen and bathroom with other residents. He doesn't like staying at the apartment and he doesn't like the other residents who seem weird and suspicious.

When the Camellia Blooms is a story of Dongbaek, an orphan who grew up to become a single mom. She owns a small bar, also called ‘Dongbaek’ which means camellia in English. Her life takes a new turn after meeting Yongsik, a do-gooder police officer in their small town. They fall in love despite social stigma against single parenthood. And she starts to look into her patients' diseases caused by industrial accidents and work on revealing the truth concealed by those with power.

Stuntman Cha Dal-geon gets involved in a tragic airplane crash and ends up discovering a national corruption scandal in the process. Go Hae-ri, the oldest daughter of a deceased marine, decides to work for the National Intelligence Service as a secret ops agent in order to support her mom and younger siblings, although all she wanted to do is to become a civil servant.
